Moi University has clarified the dress code that students should wear to align with the institution's governing rules and regulations.

The Students Dean Alice Mutai has warned students against inappropriate dress codes like miniskirts and sagging trousers, among others.

The Dean gave a notice after observing students dressing indecently within the institution.

"The following are not official. Micro/miniskirts, skin-tight trousers, ragged/tom/ripped jeans, tumbo cut blouses/t-shirts, low cut blouses/dress, micro shorts and transparent dresses or attires that show bra straps or sleeveless t-shirts, t-shirts with obscene writings, sagging trousers and clothing that reveal the chest, Slippers, crocs and all plastic shoes are not official wear and should not be worn in the University," Mutai noted.

She further notified all staff not to attend to students who fail to adhere to the decent dress codes.

This is not the first memo served to students regarding the institution's dress codes.

In January 2023, Kenya Methodist University also prohibited its learners from wearing miniskirts, tops that expose their belly and naval) as well as clothes that expose their backs.

The male students were also warned against keeping rastas/dreadlocks and plaited hair.

In October 2023, other institutions including Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Strathmore University, and University of Eldoret also issued similar notices.
