Forty passengers survive early morning bus accident in Londiani.

A 66-seater bus carrying 40 passengers was involved in an accident at the Tunnel area along the Londiani-Muthuroni road early on Thursday morning.

The accident, which happened at around 3 a.m., left the passengers with various injuries, according to Red Cross Kericho County Coordinator Sylvia Tuwei.

She said five people who sustained serious injuries were taken to Kericho County Hospital for treatment, while the rest were transported to Fort Tenarn Hospital and discharged after receiving medical attention.

"No fatalities were reported," Tuwei said.

The police report stated that the accident occurred when the bus driver tried to avoid hitting a vehicle that had stopped suddenly in front of him.

"He swerved and veered to the left side of the road. The bus eventually came to a rest on the left side of the road, facing the Muhoroni direction," the report read.

The Red Cross said on its X account that it had evacuated all 40 casualties to Fort Tenan Hospital and that four of them had been referred to Kericho County Referral Hospital.
