The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has received the go-ahead from the ODPP to charge Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago.

Speaking in Murang'a after a public lecture from former head of public service Ambassador Francis Muthaura, EACC Chief Executive Officer Twalib Mbarak said the commission, through its quarterly report, has recommended prosecution of people believed to have perpetuated acts of corruption.

"We have quite a number of big-profile cases; one of them involves the senator Uasin Gishu, and for him, we have recommended his prosecution in relation to the famous Finland scandal," he said.

The CEO proceeded to say that the commission has investigated other cases, including the sale of Telkom, in which the commission intends to charge a former CS.

"We have recommended a former CS, a former PS, and some senior Telkom officials to be charged; I will not mention mames now," he added.

In Siaya county, the commission noted that there has been misuse of money through imprest collection and consequently recommended prosecution of senior staff at the county government of Siaya.

He added that the commission has also invited Jeniffer Gitiri, the lady believed to occupy eight state jobs.

"We have invited the lady next week for an interview. We want to establish if it's true that she occupies the jobs, and if it's within the law, we believe there are laws governing how state officers should be employed. We don't treat her as a suspect; we want to know how she ended up getting those appointments," he added.

The EACC will lead Kenyans in commemorating International Anti-Corruption Day on Saturday.
