A 46-year-old technician at James Finlay Tea Estate has been arrested over the gruesome murder of his wife.

The suspect allegedly drove around with the body of his wife in the passenger seat before authorities intervened.

Kericho County Police Commander Geoffrey Mayek said the man was arrested at Kapsoit Trading Centre after he parked the car along the Kericho-Kisumu road near Highlands Sacco, and passersby noticed the body in the passenger's seat.

"Police proceeded to the scene and on arrival, confirmed that the woman was dead," said Mayek.

He said upon interrogation the suspect reportedly confessed to engaging in an altercation with his wife that turned fatal in Finlay Tea Estate.

"On observation, the deceased was bleeding and had injuries on the head, mouth, and eyes," said Mayek.

The suspect was put in custody and the vehicle detained at Kapsoit Police Station as officers launched investigations into the incident.

The body was removed to Kericho County Level 5 Hospital morgue.

It was still not clear when the woman died, but police suspect that she might have been killed on Sunday night.
