Two people have died and several others injured in a road accident at Sobea, Nakuru County along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

Nakuru County Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi confirmed the incident saying the injured have been taken to the Nakuru Level Five Hospital.

"We lost two people in the accident that happened at around 4am. The accident involved a matatu KDH 928F of Classic Shuttles and a lorry KCZ 288P," said Ndanyi.

The accident, Ndanyi said, was a head-on collision in the area that is among notorious accident blackspots along the route.

"The matatu was heading from Eldoret to Nakuru while the lorry was heading in the opposite direction. At least seven people were injured and rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital," said Ndanyi.

Bodies of the deceased persons were taken to the Nakuru County morgue pending identification.
