Kabarak University has recovered its hacked Facebook account.

In a statement dated Tuesday, May 9, the University Vice-Chancellor Prof Henry Kiplagat announced the recovery of the account that had been taken over by cybercriminals.

The attack according to the Vice-Chancellor threatened the University's online image and posed an imminent danger of loss of trust from stakeholders and the general public.

"I am quite pleased to announce that the University's highly qualified Cyber security team and experts from Meta Inc worked tirelessly and deployed a wide range of cyber security measures to recover the Facebook account within the shortest time possible," stated Kiplagat.

The VC also said that the recovery process took sleepless nights but the team was determined to succeed and restore the institution's online presence. He added that the recovery process demonstrated the importance of having a robust cybersecurity framework in place.

Prof. Kiplagat said the university looks forward to a more enhanced collaboration with Meta Inc, especially in training to improve their cyber security measures and expand their ability to prevent and mitigate future attacks.
