Three university students died in a 5 am road accident at Ngata area in Nakuru County, along Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
The students from the Rift Valley Institute of Agriculture and Technology (RVIST) were passengers in a Matatu that was traveling from Nakuru city to Rongai Constituency.
Edwin Otieno who is the Nakuru Town West Sub County Police Commander said a lorry heading to Nakuru rammed the matatu, killing the three on the spot.
He said that the lorry that was over-speeding was being driven on the wrong lane of the highway.

"The trailer hit and ran. We are still investigating the incident," said Otieno.
The police boss said officers responded immediately and rushed 14 that were injured to the Rift Valley Provision General Hospital for treatment.
He added that others with minor injuries have been discharged from the hospital.
"The students were from a school event," he said.
