Rigathi Gachagua lauds Raila Odinga for embracing opposition

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has thanked Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga for moving to assemble his team as an opposition leader.
Speaking at AICPA church in Kenol, Murang'a, today, Gachagua said Raila's gesture to welcome former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa to the opposition was remarkable.
"The move by Raila to invite Wamalwa into the opposition is proof he has accepted to take over his role of leading the opposition. A vibrant opposition should play an oversight role and point out the mistakes done by the government of President Ruto," he said.
The DP faulted the Azimio leader for failing to oversight the Jubilee Government after his handshake with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"In the last government, there was an increase in extra-judicial killings. These crimes should be investigated by our police who are competent instead of inviting the Scotland Yard detectives," he observed.
Gachagua said that a ploy to implicate the death of the two youths at Kenol market on October 4, 2020, on Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Water Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome failed.
Two years ago President Wiliam Ruto was forced to cancel the tour to the region after youths disrupted his meeting at Kenol.
"We have experienced policemen who after the investigations recommended charges of other persons exonerating Ndindi and CS Wahome," said the DP.
During the service, the politicians who accompanied Gachagua regretted the chaos, blaming it on leadership that was out to impose political ideologies on faithful.
The DP said the action by the police is regrettable and in future, such political drama should be kept out of the church.
Wahome recounted how she dragged a police officer from the altar as he lobbied teargas on faithful while ordering them out.
"I grabbed the microphone and encouraged the Christians to continue praying and shun any form of intimidation by the authorities," said Wahome.
MPs present were Peter Kihungi( Kangema), Joseph Munyoro( Kigumo), Edwin Mugo( Mathioya) and Laikipia Senator John Kinyua.
