Kenya national rugby sevens team left the country yesterday in high spirits as they headed for the Darwin Sevens in Australia.

The team will be looking to bag the 65,000 Australian Dollars prize money as they prepare for the third and fourth leg of the IRB international Rugby Board Sevens circuit. Kenya Sevens Rugby Director Sasha Mutai believes the Darwin sevens presents a win-win scenario for the side.

"The team will get to train with the Australian national side before they head to New Zealand and USA a week later," said Mutai.

The Darwin Sevens is scheduled for January 23 and Ayimba feels his side is in good form to take on any team in the world.

"We will be facing some tough opposition, but the squad I am taking makes the pools seem easy," said Ayimba. They left the country with the goal of getting at least 16 points from each leg in the IRB series thus come back home with 32 points more than their current 22 point tally. This means Ayimba will have to make it to both semi-finals from the two legs in Wellington and Las Vegas.

Meanwhile Sevens team winger Victor Sudi has rubbished rumours that he has returned his former club Impala. The Quins winger was spotted at Impala on Saturday training with the Red shirts ahead of the Impala Floodlight tournament which kicks off on Saturday.
