Police in Rachuonyo East Sub-county has launched investigations into the death of a man whose body was dumped in a culvert.

The body of the middle-aged man was stuffed in a sack and dumped under a culvert along Oyugis -Kisumu road at Nyapalo village in Kakangutu Location.

The body was discovered by children who were looking after cattle. They felt a foul smell and were driven by curiosity to find out before they spotted the body.

The minors raised an alarm before residents gathered at the scene.

It is suspected the person was murdered elsewhere before the body was dumped at the scene.

"We suspect the person was killed somewhere before being brought here," said a resident.

According to the residents, a probox with three men had been spotted on the route before the body was discovered.

Rachuonyo East Sub-county Police Commander Justus Kucha said they are investigating the matter.

He called on Kenyans who have lost their loved ones to liaise with them to help in identifying the body.

"I am calling on anybody who suspect the body may belong to their loved one to communicate to us and help us in the identification," said Kucha.

The body was taken to Rachuonyo South Sub County hospital mortuary in Oyugis town for post-mortem.
