60-year-old man murdered, wife gang-raped in Homa Bay

Police in Homa Bay County have launched investigations over the death of a 60-year-old man who was murdered before his wife was raped by unknown people.

Lazaro Owino was murdered in his home at Got Kowino village, Kokwanyo East Sub Location in Rachuonyo East Sub-County.

The bizarre incident occurred when the man was attacked by the gang on Tuesday night.

The gang found the old man sleeping in his house.

They broke the door and hacked him to death using a panga and other crude weapons.

The old man sustained deep cuts on the forehead. His body was found in his bed in a pool of blood.

After the attack, the gang raped his wife who was seriously injured. She was rushed to Rachuonyo South Sub-County hospital for medication.

Kokwanyo East assistant chief Peter Odero said the gang disappeared after committing the ordeal.

“The information we have heard is that there have been cases of land dispute between the deceased and his brothers. We are not sure of whether this is the cause of the death but the matter is under investigation,” Odero said.

The body was moved to Rachuonyo Level Four Hospital mortuary.

The administrator said he had liaised with police who are undertaking investigations into the matter.
