Kenya Power now says the issue affecting the processing of prepaid electricity tokens following a system disruption over the weekend has been resolved.

On Tuesday, the power supply company apologized for the inconvenience assuring its consumers that the services had been restored and they were free to buy electricity tokens via M-pesa.
"Following a recent system disruption that led to delays in the processing and delivery of prepaid tokens, we are glad to inform our customers that the issue was resolved yesterday (Monday," said Kenya Power

The firm also added that it had processed and sent out all electricity tokens purchased by respective customers via M-PESA.

Customers have been asked to purchase tokens through M-PESA, the myPower app, or by dialing *977#.

The statement comes following a weekend-long prepaid services disruption causing public outcry.

Kenya Power had earlier responded to the delay in token generation citing challenges.

"We are experiencing a technical hitch which is affecting both our prepaid (token generation) and post-paid bill payment systems," it announced on Saturday.
