Muiru wins Kengen Day in Nakuru

Mwaura Muiru emerged as the overall champion of the Kengen Golf Day held at the picturesque Nakuru Golf Club over the weekend, amassing an impressive total of 40 stableford points.
Competing against a talented field of 182 golfers from across the nation, participants enjoyed perfect golfing conditions as the rain, which often disrupts such events, held off until after play concluded.
"This was a memorable day for all of us since the weather was just ideal, providing a comfortable playing environment for everyone involved," remarked Michael Mululu, vice-captain of Nakuru Golf Club.
Muiru, playing off a handicap of 11, expressed astonishment when his name was announced as the winner, highlighting the competitive nature of the event.
He received his top prize from Engineer Peter Chege of Kengen, a moment that brought smiles and applause from the crowd.
"It's an incredible feeling to come out on top among such a large field of experienced golfers," Muiru shared, his eyes shining with joy.
In the women's division, the talented Eleanor Wambui continued her streak of excellence, securing the Division One title with a commendable score of 25 stableford points while playing off a handicap of 12.
Amardeep Jajuha demonstrated remarkable skill in the men's Division Two, where he dominated the competition with a standout performance of 42 stableford points.
Nyambura Muigai also showcased her talent, claiming the ladies' Division Two title with a solid 37 stableford points, affirming her place among the top competitors.
This event marked one of the largest openings of the golfing season for the club, drawing considerable attention and participation.
Kiptoo Koech and Teresia Ndegwa claimed the men's and ladies' division titles respectively, celebrating in front of enthusiastic spectators.
In addition to the main categories, Eliud Salat was recognized as the sponsor winner, achieving 40 stableford points, while Nicholas Yegon and Daniel Tanui followed closely behind with 32 and 31 points, respectively.
The event also honored the future of the sport, with junior winner Kevin Kiplenge and senior champion Moses Kiragu receiving recognition for their impressive performances.
Betty Kisoi showed her prowess on the first nine holes, winning with a score of 23 stableford points, while Judith Mueni shone in the second nine, taking home the title with 24 stableford points.
