This weekend's golfing action moves to the Thika and Naivasha Sports Club courses as they play host to their respective Chairman prize tournaments.

Chairman William Ngugi Prize 2024 began on Wednesday with the Chairman's Prize Club nite and will on Friday have the curtain-raiser challenge ahead of the Chairman's prize on Saturday.

Ngugi's first term has witnessed tremendous leaps that have seen the club register as a limited company with a board of directors to oversee its day-to-day operations.

Under his watch, the course's second and 15th-hole greens have been completely reconstructed, as well as the installation of a state-of-the-art powerhouse for better service delivery to the clubs' membership.

"I'm happy that there is harmony within our club under my tenure where we don't have wrangles or political groupings among our membership. This has made it easy to initiate and implement most of our projects for the greater good of the club," Ngugi said.

His tournament has received a boost from Syngenta, Britam, Dashui Water Drilling Limited, Finsco Africa, and Spurs Steak Ranches.

Down at the Happy Valley, the nine-hole Naivasha Sports Club layout is expecting a sizable field for Chairman Ibrahim Karanja's prizes meet on Saturday.

Karanja has been instrumental in various milestones in the club such as the electrical fence that has helped a lot in fending off wildlife such as Hippos and Zebras that have been messing up the course.

A lean draw has been put in place to ensure that those who have been entered for the tournament begin and finish on time with an array of prizes up for grabs courtesy of Chairman Karanja and other sponsors.

"The course is in great shape and playing long but all those coming for the Chairman prize will have a memorable experience from their round," said captain Micahel Karanja.
