Husband and Wife unleash their skills to win a Charity tourney at Nyali

A Husband and Wife turned a charity golf event into a family affair after both surprised a team of 150 golfers to emerge the overall and lady winner at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club Course in Mombasa County on Saturday.

Playing off handicap 16, Jon Stokes and his wife handicap 9 Susan Stokes who were both the Club's former Captain and Lady Captain separately returned 41 points and a Count back score of 38 points to emerge the overall and Lady's winners respectively.

"We are delighted to be at the winning podium today and it's not by luck or design. We planned and worked hard on our swings, putting and that's why we're the leaders today. We are also happy that indeed this event is a charity one and should continue with their support to the disadvantaged in our society," said Stokes.

The daylong 18 holes Charity tourney organized by the Crossroads Fellowship Ministry saw handicap 18 Sanjay Kotecha take the Men title on a count-back score of 40 points.

Lumatete Muchai playing off handicap 14 carded a count-back score of 39 points to take the runners-up slot after tying on the same score with third-placed handicap Sammy. M. Kamau.

The Best Senior award with 39 points was won by handicap 35 P.K.Macharia while handicap 29 Charles Ray claimed the junior prize with 49 points and the High handicapper's prize was won by handicap 43Navinder Kaur with a score of 43 points.

Elsewhere at Vetlab sports Club course on the same day, Francis Wahome paired with Nicholas Koigi in producing 49 points to emerge as the overall team of the International Pairs golf tourney, one point ahead of the team pairs of A. Korir and S.Chepkwony were the runners.

J.Kibet and M.Maiyo on 47 points were third and the best mixed pair prize on 44 points was won by the pair of Perpetual Mwatha and Simon Mwatha.

And at the Kenya Railways Course also on the same day, handicap 31 Ruth Mwende carded 41 points to emerge the overall winner of the Morning team golf day.

George Muraguri playing off handicap 16 was the Men winner on 38 points while handicap 16 Samson N.Gakere was the men's runner-up on a countback score of 37 points after tying on the same points with third-placed handicap 27 Dr.Partick Karani.

Paul Orawa playing off handicap 6 brought 79 gross to win the Best Gross prize while handicap 13 Wilfred Gathu on 38 points and handicap 13 Patrick Langat with 40 points were th Sponsor's and Guest winners respectively.

Mary Ndegwa playing off handicap 28 won the Lady's prize on 33 points and handicap 23 Janealice Mutuota was the runners up on a point behind.

The senior prize was won by handicap 18 Titus .K.Mbogua on 36 points and handicap 28 Stephen Chiuri brought 26 points to win the junior prize.
