Karanja lifts annual Red Cross Charity Golf Day as MOJA Expressway pledges national charity support

Francis Karanja is the winner of the eighth edition of the annual Red Cross Charity Golf Day tournament at the Par 72 Royal Nairobi Golf Club in Nairobi.

The handicapped 31-player fired 45 Stableford points to emerge the victor in a hotly contested event that attracted over 100 players from Nairobi and its environs.

Handicap 25 James Mbaabu shot 44 points on both nines to settle for the runner-up slot. Third place went to handicap 41 player Tony Karani who raked in 42 points to his credit.

Marcus Kariuki, playing off handicap 29, won the first nine title with a score of 23 points while Caesar

Handa (h29) took the second nine honors with 22points.

During the tournament, MOJA Expressway- the Company which manages the 27km Nairobi Expressway, announced that all Red Cross branded Ambulances and Rescue Vehicles will enjoy free usage of the Nairobi Expressway using the Manual Toll Collection (MTC) lane.

As part of the sponsorship package for the Red Cross event, MOJA Expressway Company also donated 150 gift bags for all the players who took part in the charitable event.

Jeanne May Ong'iyo -Head of PR and Spokesperson of the Nairobi Expressway, remarked: "This partnership between The Kenya Red Cross and Moja Expressway Company will ensure that we support various charities across the country.

"One of our key pillars at MOJA Expressway Company is to engage in community-centered initiatives and this collaboration charts a clear path for our CSR policy."

Other sponsors who supported the annual charity fixture included Equity Bank, CFAO, East African Portland Cement and Eco Bank among others.
