Zimbabwe’s Robson Chinhoi came from behind to take day two lead in the ongoing Safari Tour’s Series fourth leg at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa County yesterday.

Chinhoi who is seeking a double victory after a win of the event at Vet Lab, collected a two under par total of 140 gross going to day three today.

He carded a three under par 68 gross yesterday to lead the board after a one over par 72 gross  on aay one on Sunday where he had shared the third slot with country mate Tranos Muradzikwa and Kenya’s Alfred Nandwa and Dismas Indiza.

Following closely are Kenya’s Simon Ngige with a one under par total of 141 gross and Dismas Indiza on level par 142 gross total.

Uganda’s Deo Akope tied fourth with Zimbabwe’s Visitor Mapwanya after ending the day on a total of 143 gross each.

The day’s highlight came after Uganda’s Ronald Rugumayo made history when he sank a hole in one at the par three-fifteenth hole, becoming the first one to be recorded in the Safari Tour this season.

“I am so happy. Today has been my lucky day and this has brought me back to the game. This is my tenth “hole in one” in the East African region with the first one at my home club of Kasese,” Rugumayo said

Out of 64 Golfers in the tournament, 22 survived the cut going to next two rounds in a fierce campaign for the top cash prize of Sh230,000 plus points towards the “Road to Magical 2022 Kenya Open”.
