Leo Zurovac claims Limuru Junior Championship as action moves to Thika

Vet Lab’s Leo Zurovac brought a round total of 223 gross to emerge the 2021 Limuru Open Junior champion during the Kenya Junior Championship Golf tournament that ended at the par 72 Limuru Golf and Country Club Course on Tuesday.

This is a double victory for the 17-year-old boy playing off handicap, who claimed the Kenya Junior Stroke play championship at Muthaiga a fortnight ago.

The handicap 3 Zurovac started off on a high carding a one under par 71 gross on Monday, played a disastrous nine overs in the second round but improved in the final third round with a one over par 71 gross to claim the title and the overall gross boy.

The Championship which is organised by the Junior Golf Foundation of Kenya (JGK) is a World Amateur Golf ranking event.

Golf Park’s handicap 12 Belinda Wanjiru produced a round total of 270 gross (93-86-91) to emerge the overall gross girl winner.

Handicap 32 Nehemiah Dinkins on 183 gross (62-63-58) and handicap 26 Rohini Shah with 202 gross (65-71-66) were the overall nett boy and overall nett girl winners respectively.

The class winners in the 18-21 years category were handicap 1 Steve Orinda who was the gross winner on 227 gross (79-75-73) while handicap 4 Emmanuel Njugu won the gross runners up slot with 242 gross (84-78-80). Handicap 38 Stephen Kihiu with 187 nett (66-66-55) was the nett winner.

The gross winner for the 15-17 years was handicap 3 Lee Kimathi on 243 gross (83-81-29), handicap 7 Mikael Kihara on 249 gross (84-86-79) was the gross runners up while handicap 22 Njukia Kihara with 210 nett (72-69-69) was the nett winner.
