Sea-Link Mombasa ready for inaugural 'Sotet' Golf Tournament on Saturday

An estimated 150 golfers will be bracing themselves for the Inaugural 'Sotet' Golf tournament to be played at the Sea-Link par 71 Mombasa Golf Course in Mombasa County on Saturday.

This will be the first ever tournament hosted by the 'Sotet' Golfers Association which is composed of golfers from the North and South Rift Valley and likely to attract many more golfers drawn from the home Club and all over the Country.

'Sotet' Chairman Maj.Epapra Lagat said yesterday that the tournament which is organized with a cultural background is aimed at promoting community engagement and fostering strong relations between various businesses, corporates and friends in the Coastal region.

"We intend to make this an annual event and even extend it to the diaspora in the near future. We look forward to partnering with like minded sponsors to ensure the event is a success,"Lagat.

He pointed out that the course on the day will be painted Black and white as the main dress code of the day and that there will be a lot of fun and various local entertainments including good traditional food, good music and good company.

Among the big names expected to feature in the course includes Faith Muteti, Gladys Kasi, Prisca Jebet,Eliud Bett ,Jonah Cheptoo,Dinesh Jetha ,Tabitha Serem,Tirus Githaiga, Amos Korir , Peter Cheruiyot ,Mesaidi Maarifa,Ken Kimundi ,Dr. Kikwai Kibet ,Gregory ,Club Captain James Gitonga and Club Chairman Paul Munyao.

Others are Hon.Geofrey Yego, Hon. Caleb Kositany, Maj. Epapra Lagat, Edwin Kiptoo,Willy Sang,Kiprotich Kemboi, Paul Koech ,Winfred Ndunge, Henry Akello, Eunice Korir, Cheptoo, Zaituni Mohamed, Chris Birgen ,David Biegon ,George Kokoth, Kipkurgat Nicholas, Alfred Nandwa, Mohamed Jezan, Bernard Simiyu, Kelly Rob, Diana Nthiwa,Maj. Gen.Rob and Henry Kamau.

Muteti from the Kenya Navy golf team and one of the Club's most promising and upcoming Youthful Lady Golfers around the Coast said she was excited, prepared and looking forward to the tournament.

Club Chairman Paul Munyao said they are honored to be the first to host the event at the over the century old Course and that the course continues to be at its pristine condition maintained in the best standards to hold any tournament.

This Tournament comes after the 'Mulembe' organized by Golfers from the Western Region, the 'Kambasome' by those golfers from the Eastern Region and the 'Sunset' golfers by golfers from the Nyanza Region.

Elsewhere, other Golfers will be looking forward to being treated to some exhilarating and enchanting golf tournament in this year's corporate golf day to be played at the Karen Country Club Course on Friday.
