Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa is set to hold its Captain's Prize Golf Tournament this coming weekend.

The two day championships has attracted over 250 golfers from around the country including the junior category.

The competition, which has also attracted some top professionals, will be played on medal format on Saturday and stableford format on Sunday.

"The objective of the event is to celebrate the strides made by the club despite the Covid-19 pandemic," Nyali Golf and Country Club Captain, Zafir Din, said.

"The pandemic affected the day to day running of this facility, however, the support and backing of members, sponsors, County Government and well wishers assisted the club to overcome the tough conditions."

Among those set to grace the championships is Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho.

Joho has been very supportive of the Junior Golf Foundation program which has seen donation of golf equipment to rising star players within the region.

Joho who is optimistic about good performance of top junior golfers within the coast region noted: "The County Government of Mombasa has donated golf equipment worth over shs. 1m to the Kenya Golf Foundation.

"The support is meant to nurture talent from the grassroots level," he said.
