Roookie Iraki shines at UAP Old mutual golf at Vetlab...

Youngster Mwangi Iraki rallied a superb round sinking six birdies, seven pars, six bogeys and one double bogey for victory during the UAP Old mutual golf day at Vet Lab over the weekend.

Iraki outshone the 213 golfers in contention with 43 stableford points to claim the overall prize at the par 72 sports club.

Iraki, playing off handicap 9, posted 22 stableford points on the outward nine and capped it up with 21 stableford points from the inward nine for a neat 43 (22+21) stableford points.

“It feels great with this win. I was part of the University of Nairobi team that won the inter-university golf tournament on Friday. My putting was A1,” said Iraki.

Jackson Mwangi posted 39 stableford points to take the Men winner prize as Steve Orinda, playing off handicap 8, won Men second prize on 37 stableford points.

Handicap 28 Aleem Manji took Men third prize with 36 stableford points, while Mark Karobia, playing off handicap 13, was Men fourth with 36 stableford points.

Handicap 24 Rose Mwarania posted 35 stableford points to lift the Lady winners prize, while Chanelle Wangari, playing off handicap 17, carded 32 stableford points to take the Lady winner second prize.

Handicap 10, M. Walji, on a score of 37 stableford points, won the Guest winner prize as Robert Odero, playing off handicap 4, was Guest second with 35 stableford points.

Musikari Kombo, playing off handicap 22, carded 32 stableford points to take the Senior prize, while Sammy Kanyi, playing off handicap 17, won the Staff prize on a score of 30 stableford points.

Steve Orinda won Nearest to the Pin prize in the men’s category as Alice Kariuki won in the Ladies’ category.

Thomas Itumbi won the Longest drive in the men’s category as Chemutai Kenei won in the Ladies’ category.
