Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia had to fight from a goal down in the first half to salvage a point after playing a 1-1 draw with archrivals AFC Leopards in the 94th Mashemeji Derby played at MISC Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.

Benson Omalla scored in the second half to secure a point for Gor Mahia who came from behind to force a 1-1 draw with AFC Leopards.

Despite the draw, K’Ogalo kept their bragging rights as Ingwe are yet to beat them in the top-flight for the last six years.

The draw pushed Gor Mahia to fourth on the 18-team table with 47 points from 29 matches while Ingwe jumped to ninth on 39 points from 28 matches.

Playing for pride and bragging rights rather than the league title, Leopards were first to sting after going ahead in the 21st minute through Victor Omune to give Ingwe fans something to shout about at the break.

Ingwe’s joy and the planned party were however put on hold six minutes after the restart after former Western Stima striker Omalla levelled the scores in the 51st minute.

Despite many attempts to win the match, neither side could find their way to goal as the derby ended in a draw.

Elsewhere, relegation fighting Vihiga Bullets came from behind twice to thrash Kariobangi Sharks 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller match staged at Kasarani Annex.

Patilah Omoto, Erick Mmata and Steve Otieno scored the goals for Sharks while Vincent Ogola grabbed a brace for the visitors with Robert Arrot and Philip Muchuma sealing the win for the visitors who moved four point away from the drop zone.
