Kariobangi Sharks move second as KCB revives title push

Kariobangi Sharks moved second in the FKF Premier League standings after thrashing Sofapaka 3-0 at Kasarani Annex on Sunday.

Bonface Onyango’s penalty from the spot in the first half and two second-half goals from Fortune Omoto and Felix Oluoch saw Sharks collect maximum points and move to second on the log with 28 points.

Oluoch’s goal was a ninth of the campaign as the Sharks danger man goes level on goals with Kenya Police’s Clifton Miheso in the race to win the Golden Boot.

At the same time, KCB reignited their title push after defeating Posta Rangers 2-1.

Derick Otanga scored the winner, his eighth goal of the season after Henry Onyango's lead was cancelled out by former Tusker forward Timothy Otieno.

The win saw the bankers move joint second with Sharks on 28 points but with an inferior goal difference.

Elsewhere, Mathare United, under the tutelage of acting coach Francis Xavier went down to Nigerian import Fansami Ojo 60th minute winner as AFC Leopards defeated them 2-1 at Nyayo.

Eugene Wethuli had given the Slum Boys the lead at the quarter-hour mark before Eugene Mukangula drew the 13-time champions level moments before halftime.

Victory took Leopards 11th with 20 points as Mathare remained the second bottom with seven points and yet to win in their last ten matches.

Newbies FC Talanta came from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw against cane cutters Nzoia Sugar at Ruaraka Grounds.
