Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday thrashed defending champions Tusker 3-0 to move to within a point of leaders Gor Mahia in an early kickoff FKF Premier League match played at Kasarani.

League top scorer Felix Oluoch, Sydney Lokale and Patrick Otieno all scored in the second half as an impressive Sharks side ended their three seasons losing streak to the champions. This was Sharks win against Tusker since 2018.

Victory propelled Sharks to joint third in the standings with 13 points same as Nairobi City Stars, Bandari and Kakamega Homeboyz. Unbeaten Gor lead the standings with 14 points.

The brewers on the other hand remained 10th with six points after their third defeat of the season.

Speaking after the match, Tusker head coach Robert Matano said he is disappointed with the defeat but promised improvement.

The Coach of the Year award winner believes the season is too early to call saying they still have room for improvement.

"We had our chances in the first half which we did not take and it came to haunt us because in the second half we gave away really easy goals. All we are left with is to work to rectify the mistakes," said Matano.
