Benson Omalla scored his third goal of the season to inspire Gor Mahia to a 2-0 win over Kariobangi Sharks in their rescheduled FKF Premier League match played at Kasarani Stadium on Wednesday.

Omalla has been in the form of his life for the former champions after scoring in every match he has started for K’Ogalo except the Mashemeji Derby.

Victory saw Gor maintain their perfect start to the new season where they have defeated KCB, AFC Leopards and now Sharks.

The win propelled the record Kenyan champions to joint first in the standings with nine points same as Kakamega Homeboyz, Nairobi City Stars and Bandari.

Omalla gave Gor a narrow 1-0 first-half lead after scoring in the 12th minute before Peter Lwasa sealed the win with a late goal seven minutes to full time.

The match against Sharks was rescheduled after Gor were away on Caf Confederation Cup assignments.

K’Ogalo returned to the local scene after advancing to the final preliminary round of the Confederation Cup. Gor Mahia were handed a walkover on Sunday after their opponents Al Ahly Merowe of Sudan withdrew from the competition.

Gor Mahia had beaten the Sudanese side 3-1 in the first leg encounter played at the New Suez Canal, Egypt on October 15.
