Bruno Fernandes and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared to find themselves in a heated spat during Manchester United’s win over Brighton on Sunday.

The Red Devils came from behind to win 2-1 against the Seagulls as second half goals from Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood cancelled out Danny Welbeck’s early strike.

United were far from their best in the first half as the international break rustiness got ahold of them.

And there was no-one more frustrated than Portuguese playmaker Fernandes, who appeared to give his thoughts to his manager while still on the pitch.

The MEN claim that Fernandes gave Solskjaer a penny for his thoughts not long before the break while the Norwegian was trying to shout something at Luke Shaw.

The no. 18 has become known for his passion and desire to win since joining the club, and clearly showed the higher standards he has placed on the side.

Solskjaer admitted that his men were not good enough in the first half, but insists that the break gave them a chance to reset.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I thought we started well but when they scored, after that we couldn't find our rhythm again and we needed half-time to compose ourselves and go again.

“Second half we played some good stuff. More runs in behind, more movement, better movement."

When asked what exactly was said at half-time, Solskjaer hinted that tensions may well have boiled over in the dressing room between him and Fernandes.

He added: “Sometimes after international breaks it takes time - and then maybe the fireworks have to be lit at half-time.

"It's always difficult to play Brighton. We have had good results and we've had to earn them the hard way. We managed to find a way in the second half."

United are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Granada in the first leg of their Europa League quarter final clash.
