Thika and Vihiga Queens maintain top spot after vital wins

Vihiga Queens maintained their place at the top of the FKF Women Premier League Zone B following their 3-2 win over Trans Nzoia Falcons over the weekend at the Kenyatta Stadium in Kitale.

Janet Moraa and Topister Situma struck in the 23rd minute and 42nd minute for the defending champions to lead 2-0 at the break

However, Trans Nzoia Falcons came gun blazing after the restart with Violet Nanjala pulling one goal back in the 51st minute as the tempo of the game increased.

This was however short-lived as Vihiga Queens Tereza Engesha’s netted the third goal in the 65th minute to restore Queens two-goal advantage.

Trans Nzoia Falcons managed to bag their second goal through Joan Naliaka in the 72nd minute but the visitors held on to see out the tie.

The win took Vihiga Queens to 19 points, maintain a health six-point lead over second placed Falcons.

In Kisumu, Kisumu All Starlets failed to take capitalize on their home advantage after being held to a 2-2 draw by Wadaida FC.

The draw saw All Starlets drop to fifth in the standings with 11 points as Wadaida went joint second with Falcons on 13 points but with an inferior goal difference.

In the meantime, Oserian Ladies bagged their first win of the season after edging out bottom placed Eldoret Falcons 2-0.

In FKF Women Premier League Zone A, Thika Queens thrashed Mathare United Women 3-0

To maintain their lead atop the standings with 21 points, six clear of second-placed Ulinzi Starlets who thumped Zetech Sparks 5-1 at the Stima Members Club
