Ouma names four new faces in Starlets squad

The national women’s football team, Harambee Starlets head coach David Ouma has unveiled a 24-member squad that will jet out tomorrow for a series of friendly matches in Morocco.

The national side will be in Morocco for one week as they kick start preparation for the Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) set for November 19 to December 3 in Cameroon’s two cities of Yaounde and Limbe.

Harambee Starlets eliminated North Africans, Algeria in the second round of the qualifiers to book a ticket at the continental show-piece.

Confirming the development team manager Doreen Nabwire said morale is high and she expects good results.

“The morale is high in camp and we are hoping for the best results from the trip. We have high expectations from Morocco as we continue our preparations for AWCON finals,” she said.

Coach Ouma has included four new faces from the squad that featured in the just concluded Cecafa Women Football Tournament that was played in Jinja, Uganda.

Esther Nandika, Pauline Naise, Purity Nyongesa and Janet Bundi are the new call ups to the Morocco roaster.

After the Morocco trip, Kenya will play against Cameroon and Egypt at home later this month before finishing their preparation against Cameroon next month. 

The Squad: Samantha Akinyi, Vivian Akinyi, Elizabeth Ambogo, Irene Ogutu, Dorcas Shikobe, Esther Nandika, Jackline Juma, Ann Aluoch, Doris Anyango, Carolyne Omondi, Cheris Avilia, Corazone Aquino, Jacky Ogol, Christine Nafula, Pauline Naise, Bertha Omita, Esse Akida, Neddy Atieno, Mary Kinuthia, Janet Bundi and Purity Nyongesa.
