Kariobangi Sharks bounced back to winning ways after narrowly defeating Kenya Police 1-0 in a FKF Premier League match staged at Nyayo Stadium on Friday.

Second-half substitute Reagan Odede netted the winner for Sharks who have now responded swiftly after last weekend’s disappointing defeat at the hands of Nairobi City Stars.

The win saw William Muluya’s charges move temporarily second in the league standings on 31 points same as City Stars who will be in action on Saturday.

The victory also saw Sharks reduce the gap between them and league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz to within three points. Homeboyz, who plays struggling Mathare United on Saturday are top with 34 points.

Kenya Police, who have roped in a huge number of local stars including last season’s Golden Boot runners up Elvis Rupia and former Gor Mahia captain Harun Shakava, failed to pose a threat for Sharks as they fail to win in four matches in a row.

The defeat left them 10th on the log with 22 points and they could drop even further down if Bidco United, AFC Leopards, Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars.

“It was not an easy match because of the talent and experienced players Police have in their squad. I am happy with the way my players played and now we turn our focus to the next match,” said Sharks coach Muluya after the match.
