Holders stun Kayole Starlets as Kujibamba revive hopes

Holders,Otto Benecker continued with their winning streak following their 5-0 win over St Anne's in a Group B fixture as the second edition of Kenya Women Football Tournament (KWFT) entered  day three on Thursday at Lower Jericho Grounds.

Harambee Starlets' duo of Wendy Achieng and Christine Nafula grabbed a brace each with Winnie Kanyotu on target for the defending champions to keep their unbeaten record intact.

Commenting after the match,Otto Benecker coach Isaac Otieno said his charges have done well adding that they are looking forward to retain the title they won last year.

"We have started well keeping the unbeaten run and we are looking forward to finish top of our group," he said.

Winnie Kanyotu opened the scores in the ninth minute before Wendy Achieng slotting home three minutes later.

Otto Benecker took full control of the match and their efforts were rewarded as Achieng fed Christine Nafula for the third goal in the 14th minute.

A minute later,Nafula was on it again as she completed her brace.

Achieng also completed her brace four minutes later to make sure her side post maximum points.

This is the third win for the defending champions who are on course to defend the title.

In another Group A match,Kujibamba continued with their fine run in the tournament following a resounding 8-1 win over Jutam in their third fixture.

Women Premier League side Soccer Sisters forward Purity Nyongesa scored four goals with Lydia Akoth,Mildred Cheche,Sharon Achieng and Lucy Njeri on target with Diana Waithera slotting home a consolation for Jutam.

Purity Nyongesa opened the scores in the sixth minute before adding a second seven minutes later,a third in the 18th minute and a fourth in 27th minute.

Lydia Akoth added a fifth in the 32nd minute with Mildred Cheche found the back of the net four minutes later.

Sharon Achieng scored a sixth of the match in the 47th minutes before Jutam's Diana Waithera pulled one back a minute later.

Lydia Njeri scored the eighth and winner in the 49th minute.
