Machakos will host the largest New Year's Eve party in Kenya featuring a free concert of local and international artists led by Tanzanian superstar Ali Kiba. The concert will be free of charge.

The concert to usher in the New Year will be held at the Machakos People's Park's famous Amphitheatre.

"We will provide continuous entertainment from 5 pm until the following day morning," said Victor Muniafu, the CEO of Machawood. "For the first time the park will be open all night long to allow those who do not wish to drive at night to stay."

The Mwana musician Ali Kiba is already in Machakos and will be practicing with his band in the next few days so as to give a great performance.

Through his Twitter handle, Ali Kiba has assured Kenyans of an epic perfomance leading to the midnight countdown.

"Machakos wakae tayari ninafuraha kuwa nao siku ya mwaka mpya (Machakos be ready, I am pleased I will be with you for the New Year)," he posted.

In addition to the various artists such as the ragga and zook artist Dr. Claude from Rwanda, music will be kept going by DJ E of Churchill Show and DJ Mike of Machawood till morning.

"I welcome all Kenyans to join us in Machakos for this amazing time," said Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua. "Tell a friend and come and usher in the new year with fireworks and great music."
