Authorities have launched a manhunt for a woman suspected to have stabbed a police officer in Tana River County.

The body of the officer was found in Chuma Mrefu village, lying in a pool of blood.

According to a police report, the body of Elijah Lekishon was discovered on November 22 after an alarm was raised by a member of the public.

"Officers responded to the scene and found the body of a police officer attached to Kilelengwani Police patrol base lying dead in a pool of blood," police said.

The body had a deep cut on the hand and forehead.

Police established that the deceased was in the company of a woman before he met his death.

"It was established that the deceased was with a woman when a fight arose and in the process, she stabbed the deceased with a kitchen knife," the report said.

A knife soaked in blood was also found near the deceased at the scene of the crime, believed to have been used by the suspect.

The body of the deceased has since been moved to Malindi Sub County Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
