International Star Two referee Edward Mwaura is the new Secretary General of Kenya Prisons Boxing Club.

Mwaura who was elected unopposed replaces Boniface Ndolo who was elected the first vice chairman under the stewardship of Dickson Mwakazi with George Odindo as the second vice chairman after all of them were elected unopposed.

Others ushered in unopposed were the club coach Bernard Ngumba who is the assistant secretary general, assistant treasurer Teresia Wanjiru and competitions secretary Daniel Shitsia.

Only two posts attracted competitive election after opponents during the exercise at Magereza House.

They were the treasurer and assistant competitions secretary posts that were clinched by Joseph Njogu and Ibrahim Nasur.

Njogu beat John Mwangi 15-6 while Nasur defeated Moses Oluoch with a similar margin of the vote.

And with conclusion of elections, Mwaura said they'll submit their returns to the Registrar of Sports this week with a possibility of seeking recruitment of more boxers into their camp.

"We have now conformed with the 2013 Sports Act and as we seek recruitment of more boxers into the club," said Mwaura who's the only Star Two international referee Kenya Prisons Boxing Federation branch holds in its ranks.

Meanwhile, Boxing Federation of Kenya Competitions Secretary John Waweru confirmed that Kenya Prisons Boxing Club was free to have their boxers take part in the Kenya Open Championships that started at Charter Hall, Nairobi on Wednesday.
