Floyd Mayweather won the much-hyped light-middleweight fight with Conor McGregor - and then promptly retired again.

Mayweather finally prevailed against plucky McGregor with a 10th-round stoppage at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

And after the win took him to 50-0 in his career, Mayweather announced in the ring he would retire again.

Mayweather, who came out of retirement to take the big-money fight, said: "This was my last fight ladies and gentleman. For sure, tonight was my last fight.

"I chose the right dance partner to dance with. To the country of Ireland, we love these guys."

Praising battling McGregor, Money said: "He’s a tough competitor, we gave the fans what they wanted to see.

"He’s a lot better than I thought he was. I was the better man tonight.

"That was our game plan, take our time, then take him out at the end, down the stretch.

"We wanted him to shoot heavy shots at the beginning. After 25 minutes, he slowed down.

"If I’m not mistaken, I guaranteed this fight wouldn’t go the distance.

"Boxing is a hell of a sport, MMA is a hell of a sport. I want to thank the fans."
