Kenya national women’s beach volleyball team captain Phosca Kasisi has exuded confidence that her team will qualify for their maiden Olympic Games.

“We have been training individually and are now ready for the annulled second round of the Africa African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) qualifiers for the Tokyo Olympic Games,” said Kasisi.

“What we are missing is the feel of the beach sand, otherwise we are focused on representing Africa in the Summer Games,” added Kasisi.

“For us to play in the Olympic Games, we must top pool C in the Nigeria qualifiers to advance to the final round, where winners will bag the continent’s flag to Tokyo,” said the Kenya Commercial Bank team captain.

Team Kenya is composed of Kasisi, former Malkia Strikers captain Brackcides Agala, Gaudencia Makokha and Yvonne Wavinya. Kasisi said resumption of the Kenyan volleyball league is an added advantage to the beach team as all the four players will be training with their respective clubs before they report for their residential camp.

The second round will be played in Abuja, Nigeria, in March or April.

Hosts Cape Verde, Zambia, Kenya and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are in Pool C.
