Privatization commission of Kenya today holds a consultative meeting with county governments in Kisumu to address the privatization issues of sugar companies.

Migori County governor Hon. Okoth Obado has told the commission that they cannot allow the private partners to run the sugar companies because the private partners will pay the farmers peanut cash.

He said that the county government is even constructing roads that the sugar trucks are passing and that cannot be done when the companies are run by private partners yet they make huge profits.

He said that for sugar companies to be privatized then much consultation should be done. He concluded that privatization should not be done.
