Church leaders take campaigns to Central
By Francis Ngige
Church leaders trooped to Nyeri in a rally where they declared that the ‘No’ wave was unstoppable.
They also denied President Kibaki’s claims that their side was receiving support from foreigners.
But their target of two million people at the rally did not materialise, as only a sizeable crowd waving red cards attended the meeting at Kamukunji Grounds.
Led by Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, the tele-evangelists poked holes in the Proposed Constitution, saying it would drag the country backwards.

On Saturday, President Kibaki claimed opponents of the Proposed Constitution were receiving financial support from outsiders.
But on Sunday, the Church leaders were quick to point out that the money they were using was from their followers.
"We are using offerings donated in our meetings. Today, we will collect money from the people present for next weekend’s rally in Mombasa," said Bishop Mark Kariuki of Deliverance Church.
The speakers accused the Government of pushing the draft constitution down the throats of Kenyans.
They also reiterated abortion would be legalised if the document is adopted on August 4.
