Kenyans ready for Six-Goal-Zimbabwe International Championships

For the last two days, Kenyan players have been testing Zimbabwean horses ahead of the Six-Goal-Zimbabwe International Championships at Thornpark Polo Club in Harare tomorrow.

Team captain Geoff Morley said they will not disappoint.

He said they are to carry on with the winning streak whenever Kenyan teams play abroad.

“We must keep it intact, our culture of winning matches abroad even this time round,” he said.

The first international assignment this year was when the Kenyan team defeated Nigeria 6.5-6 at Lagos Polo Club to lift the Simon Kuseyo Memorial Cup in April.

Morley described the match as competitive, and they could only win if they play as a unit.

“This one can only be won if we play as a unit so that we treat the reciprocal match here at home as a formality,” he explained.

The team includes handicaps 2 Morley (Geoff) and Will Millar, handicap 3 Jose Craig and handicap -1 Charley Morley.

They were selected in Timau during the Kinsman and Marania Cups championship at Northern Kenya Polo Club.

Before taking a flight to the Southern African country, they were training at Manyatta Polo Club in Gilgil.

“Playing together in Gilgil and Timau assisted us in gelling together for this trip,” said Morley who has a second cap after the first in India in 2017.

Yesterday, Morley was happy for his younger brother Charley (Morley) for making the debut for the national team.
