Kenya’s Jastus Madoya is the winner of this year’s 2021 Uganda Open Golf Championship.

Madoya who also won the event in 2019 brought a 13 under par round total of 271 gross to claim the title at Entebbe Golf Club Course in Uganda yesterday.

“I love Entebbe and the course, its green all over and nice weather. My first round of 65 gross motivated my game  to the last round, though the final round was not so good. But I am happy for the win and will always look forward  to coming back to Uganda,” Madoya said.

His countrymate Dismas  Indiza finished second with a round total of 276 gross, two strokes ahead of the event’s defending champion Robson Chinhoi from Zimbabwe who scored a total 288 gross.

Ronald Rugumayo was the best Ugandan on 279 gross for a fourth place while Zimbabwe’s Visitor Mapwanya on 281 gross was fifth.

Other Kenyans in the top ten are Samuel Chege with 284 gross and Erick Ooko who had a round score of 286 gross.

Out of the 96 professional golfers in the first day on Wednesday, 13 Kenyans out of 31 made the cut on Thursday evening after round two.

The 2021 Uganda Open organised by the Uganda Golf Union began on November 18-20 with the Ladies Open where home player Irene Nakalembe emerged the winner on 222 gross with three strokes ahead of Kenya’s Mercy Nyanchama who was second.
