Kenya Power has refuted reports that a transformer explosion led to a stampede at the National Youth Service training college in Gilgil earlier this week.
The firm said engineers who visited the site confirmed there was no problem with power equipment in the vicinity, contradicting media reports that the incident was caused by an electric fault.
Kenya Power said "a group of four recruits who were hiding within the NYS premises ran towards the parade when they saw an instructor approaching their direction".
