Strikes not panacea for country's woes

Kenyans have for long been known to use strikes as a means of solving problems. Workers and students are best known for this.

Although our Constitution provides for freedom of expression as a right, this trend of strikes must stop. It is hurting our economy and causes more harm than good.

Doctors have been on strike for over two months now, public universities staff three weeks and now a nationwide university students' strike is looming as students try to compel the Government to solve the lecturers' strike.

Kenya has rightfully earned the 'striking nation' tag, which has dented our nation's name internationally.

There are better ways of solving our problems. Dialogue and arbitration can solve problems with much less time wastage.
