Kenya's national netball team, the Divas, put up a spirited performance despite falling 41-33 to a formidable Namibian side in their opening match of the inaugural UAE Netball Cup in Dubai, United Arabs Emirates on Sunday.
Under the leadership of captain Parin Simiyu, the Divas had a nervy start, quickly falling behind by seven points within the first five minutes.
Coach Ali Mugisha responded with a tactical switch, bringing on goal shooter Doreen Akinyi to replace Delilah Akinyi.
The change stabilised Kenya's attack, though Namibia still edged the first quarter 11-8.
Namibia, ranked higher globally, maintained their momentum to lead 21-13 at halftime.
