Two tortured bodies found dumped in Rongai as killings rise in Nakuru

Questionable killings continue to be reported in the country, the most recent incident being reported in Soin Ward, Rongai, Nakuru County.

The residents are still reeling in shock following a Sunday morning discovery of two bodies of men, victims of gruesome torture, dumped on a road on the border of Nakuru and Baringo counties.

Soin Ward representative Degaulle Naburuki, who condemned the incident, said that the bodies were fresh and the victims had been tortured to death.

"The two people appeared to have been killed at night, and their bodies left there. The scene was on a road leading to sisal farms where very few people pass," said Naburuki.

It is how the two were killed that has left the residents in shock, even as the identity of the victims remains unknown.

"Both men had their hands chopped off and their legs tied using ropes. This was an execution. This was torture. It is not every day you find people murdered in this manner. It was a painful death," said Naburuki.

He added that the scene did not show any signs of struggle, pointing to the possibility that the victims were killed elsewhere and their bodies dumped there.

"We strongly condemn this kind of act. We won't allow our area to be turned into a dumping ground for people killed elsewhere. We have no space for criminals in our area," said Naburuki.

He added that the local community was unable to identify the victims.

"We are calling on our people to be more vigilant. We urge our security apparatus to be on the lookout for criminals in our midst and elsewhere who may be behind these senseless killings," he said.

Rongai Sub County Police Commander Cecilia Kemboi said that they were alerted by locals about the discovery, and the scene was processed by officers from the DCI.

"It was a horrific scene, and from our initial assessment, this appears to be a secondary scene after the two victims were killed elsewhere and their bodies dumped there," said Kemboi.

The Sub-County police boss added that the bodies were of male adults of about 30 years who could not be identified.

"The local community could not identify the bodies, and we currently don't have reports of missing persons within the area. The bodies were moved to Nakuru County mortuary," said Kemboi.

The incident comes at a time Nakuru county has reported rising criminal activities, the majority of them being violent armed robberies that have so far claimed the lives of at least four people killed by shooting.
