Wiper Patriotic Front Leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the opposition is determined to give the country a suitable presidential candidate who will defeat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

The Wiper leader said that he was best placed to take on Ruto, but he was ready to support any candidate who will be fronted to kick out the Kenya Kwanza regime from power.

“I believe I am the best candidate to send Ruto home during the 2027 General Election but in the event any of my fellow principals in the opposition is given that honour we will support him fully to ensure that we end bad leadership in the country,” said Kalonzo.

Speaking at Saint Andrew’s ACK Church in Kiambu County, he criticized the Kenya Kwanza regime for an alleged plot to interfere with the Ol Kalau by-election after sensing defeat, saying that the constituents have a right to elect a leader of their choice.

The Wiper leader warned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) against succumbing to pressure from the Kenya Kwanza regime to cancel the by-election, yet it has failed in taking action against open bribery.

Kalonzo said that Kenyans were now more united than ever in the resolve to send home the Kenya Kwanza government which has made life difficult for them in the last four years, something that has caused panic mode.

“Kenyans should be ready for a moment like the 2002 General Election when the opposition swept away the ruling party from power, we are going to ensure that we achieve this by the opposition remaining united and choosing the best leader,” said Kalonzo.

He predicted that the Ol Kalou by-election will reflect how the 2027 General Election will be conducted and they would not allow the Kenya Kwanza regime to handle it the same way it did with Mbeere North and Malava constituencies by-elections where there were glaring anomalies.

Democratic Party Leader Justin Muturi warned the opposition against delay in naming its presidential candidate saying this will be playing into the hands of the current administration, since they will not have enough time to market their choice across the country.

Muturi cited the delay in naming the presidential candidate for the Democratic Party in the USA where President Joseph Biden decided not to defend his seat in the last minute with Vice President Kamala Harris who got the ticket having little time to campaign.

“I do not see the need as to why we the leadership of the opposition have to hold Kenyans hostage as far as the naming of our Presidential Candidate is concerned, that is why I said that if I am not given that chance I will support Kalonzo Musyoka as our flagbearer,” said Muturi

The former Attorney General told the IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethakon that the conduct of the Ol Kalou by-election will be a credibility test as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election.

Matungulu MP Stephen Mule raised the alarm over the culture of goonism taking root across the country ahead of next General Election warning that this was a recipe for anarchy.

Mule dismissed Public Service Cabinet Geoffrey Ruku’s remarks that the only way that Kalonzo can succeed politically is by working with President Ruto.

“Let Ruku know that Kalonzo is not available for talks with Kenya Kwanza since he will be the next President in 2027, the Cabinet Secretary should tell Kenyans how the country has got ghost workers where we have lost more than Sh6 billion through payroll fraud,” he said.

Makueni Senator Daniel Maanzo urged Ol Kalou residents not to sell their National Identity Cards to some Kenya Kwanza agents who want to manage the outcome and urged the four million youths countrywide who have not registered as voters to do so.

Kathiani MP Robert Mbui claimed that the people of Ol Kalou have decided their next MP who is the DCP candidate and that no matter how much money the government spends it will not sway the vote.

“The people of Ol Kalou are determined to choose their next MP on Thursday, Kenya Kwanza is getting scared of losing that is why they are using the IEBC to issue threats of cancelling the elections which is undemocratic,” said Mbui.
