UDA sets dates for grassroots elections

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced the second phase of its grassroots elections in 22 counties.
After conducting the elections last year in 5 counties, the National Steering Committee, alongside the National Elections Board met on Monday to plan the elections that have so far attracted 11,800 candidates.
According to the Party's chairperson who is also Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, the elections are scheduled for 11th and 12th April.
"The registration for candidates is now open and will remain available until Friday, March 21 at midnight. Interested members can register through our online portal UDA.ke," said Mbarire
Mbabrire emphasized that grassroots elections are vital in ensuring that the voices of the communities are heard.

On his side, the party Secretary General Hassan Omar assured all the candidates that the elections will be fair.
"We have procured over 10,000 gadgets to ensure that elections are conducted seamlessly through a digital electronic framework that will ensure the election is open, free, fair and with instantaneous results at polls closure."
The elections will be conducted in Bungoma, Garissa, Isiolo, Kajiado, Kilifi, Kisii, Kisumu, Kitui, Kwale, Lamu, Machakos, Mkaueni, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Migori, Mombasa, Nyamira, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Tana River, and Turkana.
