Residents tell Martha Karua to accept defeat

Kirinyaga residents have hailed the Supreme Court ruling which upheld governor Anne Waiguru’s win, yesterday.

Narc-Kenya leader and former Gichugu MP Martha Karua had challenged Waiguru’s election victory.

Jubilee County Vice-chairman Muriithi Kangara asked Karua to accept the court verdict and move on.

“We know the petitioner went to court after she disputed the outcome of the gubernatorial elections, but since the Supreme Court has spoken Karua should now agree to cooperate and work with all the elected leaders for the sake of unity in the area,” he said.

Mr Kangara also reminded Karua that had she heeded President Uhuru Kenyatta’s advice during the runners-up to the August 8, 2017 elections, she would now be having a state job.

“I remember Kenyatta promising during the 2017 electioneering campaigns both Waiguru and Karua that whoever would lose the Jubilee nominations would get a slot in the state appointment just like Peter Munya and Kiraitu Murungi scenario,” he said.

Mt Kenya Pastors Forum Chairperson Bishop Daniel Njagi welcomed the verdict saying: ‘asiye kubali kushidwa si mshidani’ (He who does not accept defeat is not a competitor).
