Cord leaders express support for Governor Kidero

NAIROBI, KENYA: Nairobi County is in election mood even as Dr Evans Kidero is battling court case challenging his election as Nairobi Governor at the Supreme Court.

CORD elected leaders turned up outside City hall after court proceedings in a show of solidarity with the embattled County boss. They said that they are hundred per cent in support of the governor.

Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale said: “We want a predictable judiciary, so as even university students can learn that once an appeal has been put before the court, it will be handled within the constitution but not according to who appears before the judges.”

Khalwale prayed that the outcome of the court case to be that Kidero is still the governor. “If they decide that we go to the ballot we shall back you,” He told the Nairobi governor, and cautioned him from working with Jubilee government in search of votes.

 “We are ready for elections in Nairobi. Cord is ready and cannot be shaken. Let’s not be tribal, we have come here to support Kidero. I want to tell Uhuru that if you have luck to be in State House stop disrupting governors’ affairs” said Khalwale.

Cord Principal Moses Wetangula claimed that there was a wider scheme by now with IEBC to rig elections.  “IEBC should come out clean and state under whose instructions they are registering new voters,” Wetangula said.

“We have unwavering support of Kalonzo Musyoka, Raila Odinga and myself for governor Kidero if the courts decide that we go back to the ballot,” Wetangula said.

Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro said that those Wakora (conmen) thinking that the seat of Kidero is up for grabs should sit back and watch. “Let me say we are behind Kidero and there is no need for Elections now. We are tired,” She said.

Governor Kidero and his deputy Jonathan Mueke thanked Cord for the support and expressed optimism in being upheld in office to head Nairobi County.
