Ruto to host devolution conference in Homa Bay

President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga will attend this year’s devolution conference expected to take place at  the Homa Bay High School. 

The conference steering committee, chaired by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, yesterday said President Ruto will open the forum on August 12 while Raila will preside over on the second day.

The Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will close the event on August 15. Homa Bay Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga and Senator Moses Kajwang told residents to be prepared for business opportunities during the conference, which will attract over 20,000 people.

“This conference is going to be people-centered. It will provide Kenyans with a platform for expressing their views.  Government officials will interact with the people to understand what the people want,” Kahiga said.

The forum will also have matches between the Council of Governors and the Senate.

Homa Bay Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga and Senator Moses Kajwang told residents to be prepared for business opportunities during the conference.

Kajwang argued that the conference should be an opportunity for residents to gain through business.

“Homa Bay has potential for business opportunities. I urge residents to get ready and take advantage of the conference to sell their goods and services,” Kajwang’ said.

Magwanga said every resident should ensure the conference transforms his/her economic well-being.

“We are going to hold a national event. Let our people ensure it changes their lives by taking advantage of every business opportunity that will arise,” Magwanga said.

He welcomed politicians from across the political divide to attend the conference.

“Kenya is a multiparty democracy. Let all political leaders attend this conference regardless of their political affiliations,” Magwanga said.

He assured guests of their safety during the conference.

“We have made all arrangements to ensure security is guaranteed during the conference. We invite people from all walks of life to attend it," Magwanga said.
