A shooting incident at Ng'iya Police Post in Siaya County on Sunday morning has left two police officers dead in what authorities suspect may have stemmed from a personal dispute.
Gem Yala Sub-County Police Commander Charles Wafula has told The Standard that the incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. when Constable Martin Mwendwa allegedly shot and killed Corporal Chesise, who was the officer in charge of the station.
"Mwendwa, armed with a G3 rifle, entered the corporal's residence before opening fire, fatally wounding him in the chest and arms," he stated.
Other officers at the station responded swiftly upon hearing the initial gunshots and intercepted Mwendwa who was fleeing from the scene.
He was fatally shot by his colleagues during a confrontation that ensued.
