Governor Wanga reshuffles cabinet

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has reshuffled her cabinet as she seeks to streamline service delivery.

In the new changes, Roselyne Omolo is the new CECM for Governance, Administration, Communication, and Devolution. Omolo previously held the health docket.

Dr Joash Aloo has been moved from the Department of Water, Irrigation, and Climate Change to Trade and Industrialization.

Dr Aloo has filled the vacancy left by Polycarp Okombo who resigned and was later elected as the Speaker of the County Assembly.

Grace Osewe is now the CECM for Health. She has been moved from the Department of Governance, administration, communication, and Devolution.

Dr John Agili has been moved to the Department of Water from the Department of Blue Economy and Fisheries.

Sarah Malit is the new CECM for Blue Economy, Fisheries, Mining, and Digital Economy after serving as the CECM for Youth, Sports, Gender and Talent Development.

The CECMs who were not affected in the reshuffling were Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga who is also holding the Agriculture docket, Finance CECM Solomon Obiero, Danish Onyang (Roads), Martin Opere (Education), and Peter Ogola (Lands).

Meanwhile, Governor Wanga has nominated Elijah Ogodo Munga to serve as the CECM for Youth, Sports, Talent Development and Gender. Munga will be vetted by the County Assembly for and will be sworn into office if approved.

The governor also reshuffled nine chief officers.

Wanga said the changes were aimed at changes improving service delivery in the county.

"I have very good officers in my cabinet and after identifying their potential, I decided to reassign them to enable them to perform better. This reshuffling is aimed at enabling Homa Bay residents to get better services," Wanga said.
